Barkbusters Handguards (KTM PowerParts)

★★★★★ Barkbuster Handguards

If you spend any time riding off-road, a quality set of aluminium-backed handguards isn't an accessory, it's essential protection. I use the KTM PowerParts handguards, which are manufactured by Barkbusters, with the only real difference being the KTM-branded plastic protectors instead of the standard VPS shields. Most riders think handguards are there to protect your hands from branches, but their biggest job is protecting your bike. Even a simple tip-over can snap a clutch or brake lever, leaving you stranded miles from home or cutting an adventure short. A strong set of Barkbusters absorbs the impact and keeps your controls protected when the bike goes down. I've dropped bikes often enough to appreciate just how much abuse they can take. They've protected my levers, master cylinders and hands on more than one occasion, making them one of the best investments you can make if you ride gravel, trails or technical terrain. Installation is straightforward, they're exceptionally well made, and once fitted you hardly give them another thought until the day they save your ride. Final Thoughts There are plenty of accessories that make your bike look better, but Barkbusters are one of the few that can genuinely save a ride. If you ride off-road, especially in remote areas, they're one of the first upgrades I'd recommend. The first time your bike hits the ground and you simply pick it up, brush it off and keep riding, they'll have paid for themselves.
