MyAdvLife ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights. We process personal information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

Account details you give us (name, @handle, email, and — if you sign in with Google/Facebook — your basic profile). Content you create (ride reports, photos, GPX routes, garage & gear, planned rides, bucket list). Basic technical and usage data (e.g. pages viewed) via analytics.

How we use it

To run your account, show your rides and profile according to your visibility settings, connect you with other riders, improve the Platform, keep it secure, and send essential emails such as password resets.

Cookies & analytics

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in, and analytics (such as Google Analytics) to understand how the Platform is used. Analytics data is aggregated and helps us improve the experience.

What’s visible to others

You control visibility per item — public, friends, or private. Riders are shown publicly by their @handle; your real name is not shown publicly. Public content may be indexed by search engines. We do not sell your personal information.

Third parties we use

Trusted providers help us operate: our hosting and email provider, mapping/place data (Google Places), map tiles (OpenStreetMap), and analytics. They only process data as needed to provide their service.

Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and content are removed. Some records may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.

Your rights

You can view and update your details in Account, control content visibility, and delete your account (which removes your rides, photos and data). To request access or deletion, contact us.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Children

MyAdvLife is not intended for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date on the page shows the latest version.
