Vredefort Dome Area Adventure Riding

The beauty about the routes around Parys and the Vredefort dome is that you can easily make it a day trip or take your time and spend a night, we chose to stay at Eldo River Lodge. The lodge is situated right on the Vaal River and offers family sized chalets or single rooms. We were treated to a spectacular sundowner on the top of the mountains, on the northern side of Cobus's property, which includes some nice technical routes. But let me not get ahead of myself, you can essentially do mostly dirt routes from just outside of Randfontein, but the riding really gets good once you get closer to Parys. You pass through the tiny settlement of Venterskroon and it's definitely worth stopping over at the Venterskroon Inn for breakfast or their delicious burgers. From there the riding just gets better and an hour or so later, you'll get to Skandinawie Drift Hotel, which if you didn't stop to eat at Venterskroon is then a great option for a meal and / or some liquid refreshments.
